
Established in 1934, Steak n Shake has a long and storied history and the future looks even brighter. With its strong brand identity and excellent business models, Steak n Shake will continue to expand as a business, as well as provide a place for its Associates to grow.
Steak n Shake was established in 1934 and has been striving to be excellent ever since. A strong foundation is what we are built on. This foundation is further enhanced by two great business models listed below. These models ensure we do not become stagnant in our work and allow our Associates to participate in the growth of their company.
The Virtuous Cycle allows us to enhance our work environments. The first step in this model is to enable our leaders and provide them with the support they need. This empowers our leaders to take better care of our Associates by listening to their needs and making improvements. Our Associates in turn take better care of our guests because they feel valued. Taking care of our guests grows sales, profits and shareholder wealth. As we continue to take care of our shareholders, they invest more in labor, benefits and training to start the entire cycle over again.
The Leadership Model allows our current and future leaders to systematically respond to our Associates’ needs and contributions. This model describes those we serve, the process for engaging Associates, the values we want to guide our actions and others who can also benefit from our success. These values include finding a better way, doing the right thing, valuing diverse perspectives, enjoying life, and finally, serving others.
